We are increasingly asked to create events and study tours tailored to the strategic challenges of particular clients.

In the twelve months to Spring 2016 we have collaborated with a wide range of businesses –  in media, design, engineering, pharmaceuticals and sport – on some really interesting and important briefs. Typically, bespoke interventions are for a maximum of 25 people – although with the BBC we run a programme for many more. But we prefer working with smaller, senior teams on very specific crunchy leadership and business challenges.

We do everything from shaping the brief, finding and curating relevant stimulus and provocation, designing the flow and timings of events and study tours, hosting and facilitating, through to – if required – handling all logistics.

Here are some examples of bespoke programmes we have created for our clients:

In April 2016 we ran a three-day event for the top 20 leaders of Eli Lilly’s European and Canadian business. The nut to crack was how should the business respond to the software and tech revolution and what was the opportunity for them to invest in and partner with start up entrepreneurs to enhance outcomes for patients – and could the leadership get aligned behind a shared purpose.

In 2015 and again in 2016, we are partnering with the BBC to deliver BBC Engage, a series of 5 day long events spread across 12 months for a group of 60 rising leaders from across the entire portfolio of BBC activities. The themes of the days – which happen in BBC hubs in London, Cardiff and Salford – include “Creativity and Storytelling” and “Personal Purpose As A Leader”.

Centrica asked us to create a leadership development programme for their senior team. The purpose was to not only develop the skills and insights of the participants, but also to build connectivity and trust amongst their ‘rising stars’. Themed around ‘Leadership and Innovation’, we demonstrated that inspiration and insight are more likely to be found outside of HQ, in places you might not expect – and took them from Brixton to NASA in Houston. The process concluded with idea pitches to the CEO and the board. As a direct result a £10m investment fund called Ignite was launched, with a focus on energy.
