Michelle Morgan Co-Founder, LivityTalks about Culture, Leadership, New, Purpose, Resilience, Social Innovation
Michelle Morgan is Co-Founder of Livity and Livity Africa, a youth led creative network bringing brands and young people together, for the better. Michelle navigated school ok, but didn’t ever really know why she was there, she failed most of her exams, went to college, got chucked out of college and after a few ‘wilderness years’ managed to talk her way into a Hong Kong Ad agency. In 2001 she co-founded Livity as an experiment to see whether there was space in Agency Land for a socially responsible youth marketing agency. A business that placed equal importance on profit and purpose. Michelle’s story is built mostly on fails, overcoming extreme shyness, anxiety and lack of self-belief as well as the more cheery foundations of fun, faith and friendship. She will talk about building her multi-million business, her confidence and her self-belief; the struggles and joys of balancing purpose and profit; why championing diversity and putting young people at the heart of everything is smart and inspiring and why creating your own trophy cabinet and team of cheerleaders is critical to giving Imposter Syndrome the boot.
At 16 years into the business she co-founded, she is now tackling perhaps the greatest leadership challenge of all, handing over the day to day to a newly formed leadership team. Whilst still very much a part of Livity, she will be moving into a non-executive role that will free up some of her time to support a much needed and different rhythm to life. As she stares her ‘what next?’ firmly in the eye, with a mixture of elation and fear, she has found herself playing with an idea for new purpose led business, one that reflects her ambitions and passions now, at this stage of her life. Once a social entrepreneur…

The Business Benefits of Diversity
“Michelle’s openness, and her natural ability as a storyteller make her a standout speaker. As the co-founder of a successful and innovative creative business, her professional story alone is one worth hearing. But her authentic, witty, unpretentious and quietly inspirational style is as powerful as it is calm. Since the first time we worked together, Michelle has appeared on panels at Cannes Lions and recently stepped in at the last minute to replace another speaker at one of our London events. It’s no understatement to say her talk was the highlight of the evening. Mixing personal experiences with practical advice with her serene stage presence, she totally killed it. It was a thrill to see a room full of people respond the way they did, and at the end of the night Michelle was the speaker everyone wanted to meet." Mark St Andrew, Festival Director for Cannes Lions and Eurobest
“Michelle spoke at one of our Forums to an audience of around 100 people alongside two others, Paula Nickolds MD of John Lewis and Giles Pearmon, Ex Marcomms Director of Global Radio, on the subject of understanding generation Z As she described that Livity exists in order to help disadvantaged young people get on in life, in this case through a creative outlet, and what the implications are as well as some of the stories to give it colour, our audience had a collective penny dropping moment. They really got what this way of thinking could be about and believed that it could be done with flair, energy and imagination. Michelle was outstanding and the impact she had has been long-lasting, starting with me." Charlie Dawson, Founder of The Foundation
"Michelle is an inspiration. She is thoughtful and eloquent, with an honesty that is both disarming and infectious. She’s a natural and gifted storyteller, and when she talks, you listen. Her warmth and compassion bely a grit and determination to succeed. It is all this – combined with her commitment to equality, fairness and humanity – makes her a very special human being."
